On Holiday

I'll be vacationing for the next week, well kinda sorta -- I have writing to do,
so I'll do like the pro's - get away, so I can get down.

I'm not sure of my ability to get online while I'm away, so hopefully no one takes it personal that I won't be providing comments or feedback to your comments. In the meantime, enjoy the posts I prepared, there are about three or four. You can use this one for random comments, if you like. If I can't get online, I'll get with you all after the 4th, so you all hold it down for me. I know I'll have plenty to read when I get back. I'll probably have a few pre-written posts for you all as well. Chaio!

Looks like I'll be doing some early morning writing sessions since this place looks distracting!

Saturday

Back in the day, walking, and a challenge

Today I did something I haven't done in years, I went to the wash-o-mat (laundry, laundromat - whatever works). Anyway, I went because in a house of six the clothes can tend to back up and you end up washing exactly what is needed for the next few days. Anyway, I hate having lots of laundry laying around, so I packed up the truck, the kids, and went to the laudromat. Just me and the kids, well the 18 year old thinks she is grown, but she went too, the wife went to get her hair done. Anyway, it was quite the experience, at least for the kids. We were there for a good three hours, but had we done it at home it would have taken days.

It made me realize just how much kids miss out on because we make life so easy for them. I also decided that I'm going to take them for more walks. That decision came about because we were going to walk up the street to White Castle until the rain started coming down. They were hyped about walking. Well, when I first mentioned it they looked at me like, "we're going to walk, you are kidding right," but then they warmed up to the idea and got excited. So, I'm going to find opportunities to walk, like instead of driving the seven blocks to Blockbuster, they will get to walk for a change. They could definitely benefit from the excercise, and it's another form of bonding. So, this summer will be the summer for walking.

Which brings me to my next thought. I was reading the article CapCity wrote and was reminded of fitness goals. I had the thought that we could do a cyber "Biggest Loser" challenge. Of course, we'd have to take your word for it that you weigh what you say, but at least you would have some people to be accountable to. Would anyone be up for this?

What is sexy

An intelligent woman.

A woman who loves the Lord (didn't I say she was intelligent)

A woman who exudes confidence - doesn't get bent out of shape about the presence of other women, especially since she isn't being disrespected.

A woman who can throw down in the kitchen

A woman who knows how to turn on her man without touching him, speaking or doing anything crude. She's got the look of love.

Ok, that's all I can think of, for now, feel free to add to the list and ladies feel free to share what you think is sexy about a man.

Inquiring Minds

This is for all of you bloggers out there with ads. Are you making anything from the ads or are these companies just loading up our sites with promises of the coin? I haven't received one penny for those Google ads. Maybe they aren't positioned properly, but I don't want this site to bombard visitors with ads. I see so many on sites these days, I was wondering if you all knew something I didn't. So, what's the real?

Friday

today

I like trying my hand at different styles. This piece was inspired by the Brother Sojourner - be sure and check him out, I really dig his flow and what he's doing.
I can relate to this piece, because I've had my
share of this life's struggles.
Fortunately for me, I'm on the winning team.

turning point

i always wondered what HE saw in me
why I seemed to be getting by
knowing I was doing wrong

today is your turning point

i’ve always been smooth
i can mix it up with saint or sinner
i guess i have a universal flavor

today is your turning point

i got a thing for pretty pieces of chocolate
dark or light
nice brown eyes, pretty faces and a nice backside

today is your turning point

i ain't married
or
i love them, i'm just not in love anymore
whichever works
i'll repent on sunday

today is your turning point

nobody knows for real
just me and them
and our closests of friends
i mean, i had to tell somebody, right
but guess what
HE knows too

today is your turning point

i couldn’t take it the fact that HE knew
but HE wasn’t doing a thing about it
kept my money coming
kept my blessings flowing
even tossed me a few gifts I knew I didn’t deserve

today is your turning point

i deserve death
HE keeps presenting me life
i deserve to be hated
HE keeps showing forth his love
i asked HIM why he puts up with me
and HE said.... because

today is your turning point

Will today be your turning point? HE is waiting on you to choose HIS will over yours. What will it be? More of the same or a turn for the better?

Wednesday

What An Honor

I was honored to find that I had been tagged with the honor of "Thinking Blogger Award" by CAPCity. It's an honor to me because it really took me a while to find my way here in blog land. There are so many good blogs out there that one can easily be pulled in the direction of someone they admire. However, I'm glad to be liked for being me, Rich in the STL or Mega Rich as I've been so eloquently penned by one of my good friends, Mr. CP Howard.

By accepting this tag it is now my duty to award 5 other bloggers with this award.

Here are the rules:

1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think.
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the nomination.
3. Optional: Proudly display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’ icon with a link to the post that you wrote:

Next i choose, nominate, award the following: (Some of these folks may have been nominated, but it's just a testament to the validity)

1. Raw Dawg Buffalo - Torrence Stephens never ceases to impress me with his fresh diverse takes on everything. It won't matter if he is talking about Booty or Politics, you will be enlightened.

2. Saadia's World, Neurotica and Nonsense, Adventures in drinking - Saadia creates poetry like a wizard creates spells. She also adds a little lesson at the end so that you understand why she did what she did. She has some cool spots, go drink it in.

3. The Soujourner - When you read this brother you will come to the same conclusion that I did, The truth has arrived. This brother makes me think about myself as a writer. He makes me think about how I position myself in relation to Christ. Reading him, makes me want to be better, period. It's not about competition, it's about pushing the envelope and not selling myself short.

4. The Field Negro - with a name like that, just go and learn.

5. It's hard to give this final spot to one person because I like so many blogs, so I will dedicate this spot to the blog that I have yet to find. When I find it, I will complete the list.

I have to give shout outs to Darling Nikki , Dave and Shai - All three of these bloggers move me in different ways. One inspires, one makes me more introspective and the other makes me want to give more of myself in order to impact change. Now your job is to figure out which one is which. (SMILE)

Helping Hands

What are you struggling with? Do you have an idea you are trying to implement and for some reason you have come to an impasse? Are you scared to share your idea with others? Sometimes the very thing you are scared of is the direction you need to turn to.

We are not islands meant to stand alone. Everyone needs someone, even super you. Seek the help of someone you trust, they just may have the answer or contact you have been looking for.

Sprinkle Me

Money. We all need it and most of us want more of it.

As I was thinking about financial matters and why so many people go without, something occured to me --- Most people don't look to create money, they settle for working for it. I know that isn't profound, but it started me to thinking about how much could I create consistently. Not hustle for, which I've been guilty of in the past, but could I create in the manner in which God does, even if it was a small amount? The key is the element of consistency.

When God creates he does it so that the seed for more is within the created vessel. Everything he has created replenishes itself. Humans, Plants, Animals, etc. The question you have to ask yourself is have you followed that example? Does your business or business idea replinish itself? Is it positioned so that it always produces the desired results? If it isn't maybe you need to think about modifying it.

In the meantime, here's something to consider. A hustle causes you to run down money, but rightly applied, the creative approach causes the money to run you down.

I'm not trying to be deep here. I just want to see you reach your potential. I also want to challenge you to think differently than you have grown accustomed to. Can you think of an element that you could add to your business or idea that would allow the money to run you down. That's how the successful entrepreneur thinks. Simply following the pack gets you what everyone else has. Start to rethink how you should position your product or service, because doing so increases the likelihood that the provision you need will begin to shower down on you.

Finally, let me leave you with this. You are where you are today because of the questions you have gotten answers to. You are also where you are because of the questions you have failed to get answers to. So with that said, does anyone have a question or a comment? The floor is yours.

Friday

Happy Father's Day

It's hard to stay away, so since I was in a creative mood, I thought I'd share a little something.

Think like a child

Children don’t think in terms of lack. It has to be taught to them.
They always reach for the best and the brightest. They don’t sell themselves short. They ask their parents for what they want and they expect to receive it.

This is the model we should follow. Our heavenly daddy is more than able to supply our needs and give us the desires of our heart. So why do we settle for less?

Have you been fooled into believing that you need to set your sights lower? Who taught you that? God has not changed. There is no good thing that he will keep from those who love him.

Spend some time with your daddy and look up to him with childlike sincerity and ask for what you want. Listen for his instruction and do as you are told. He is a loving father who takes pleasure in giving his kids the very best. If he is pleased when his servants are prosperous (Psalm 35:27), then he must be elated when it comes to his children.

Because of the sacrifice of Jesus, you are his child and not his servant. So learn to act accordingly. Begin by asking your daddy to share his wisdom with you so that you can have the life you desire. Have faith in his ability. He is for you and not against you. He will not lie to you. You do not have to modify your behavior to fit a set of parameters. All you need to do is think like a child and remember that the sky is the limit.

Thursday

Summer Sabbatical

I love blogging. I mean I absolutely love it. I love it so much that I have allowed it to get in the way of what I really need to do. Write, teach and coach. So since I have some overdue projects that really need my attention, I've decided to go on a little sabattical from blogging. I will be back at a later time, with fresh and insigtful posts, but in the meantime I need to be about business (not that I don't take blogging serious, but hopefully you know what I mean). So while I'm away check out my peeps on the links list and I will catch up with all of you good people later.
