More than just a ride

I was over at Jewel’s place last week reading a post about her new car
and based on her blog photo and the car she drove an image appeared to me as to the type of woman she was. I gathered that she is a well read, intelligent, and forward thinking sister. Yes, I got all of that from her photo and the car she drove. I then hit the comment section and noticed that blogger favorite, Don, drove a Dodge Magnum.
I immediately nodded, agreeing to myself that the car fits the take charge, no holds barred, confident image that he exudes over at “Minus the Bars”. I imagine he’s got a nice set of rims and it tinted out as well, but that’s just what I get, maybe you see something different.

Then I started thinking about some of my other blog pals and decided to see if their car fit the image I had of them.

CapCity drives a 2004 MINI cooper.

Which coincides with her fun, sophisticated, yet simplistic nature. It confirms that when she needs to get in gear she can, but for the most part she is laid back and doesn’t make a fuss. Her car also speaks to the fact that while she quietly tries to blend in, you will undoubtedly notice her when she walks in the room.

Mizrepresent drives a 2003 Lexus ES300.

This car speaks to her classy understated elegance. A luxury car in every sense of the word, but not needing to be America’s Next Top Model. This girl can hold her own, no matter who’s on the highway.

Lance (blogging no blog havin'...) drives a 2003 Lincoln LS,
which goes to show, you never see this guy coming. He can flip the script at the press of the pedal. Just when you think it’s a luxury car, you realize it’s also a sports sedan. Classic pimpin’ right there, make no bones about it.

Sheletha’s beloved “Isabelle” a 2004 Saturn Ion,

reminds you that she’s not little, she’s FUN sized. And considering she took the time to name her car “Isabelle”, you can tell she has some “old-school” influence as well.

So what about me, what does Rich drive? I drive a Silver 2000 CLK320
but I’ll leave it up to you to decide what that means. In the meantime, tell me what you drive and what you think your car says to the world.
Oh, in case you wanted to know, the color of your car says something as well.

No doubt I'm first on THIS topic! LOL! Well, Li'l Red (my MINI) lets folk know "I git in where I fit in", LOVE to motor & command attention - just by BEING ME;-). Quiet? Me? Clearly Dear Rich - u don't know Many MINIacs - we're far from quiet - even if we never utter a word;-).

Love the color thang, too. It seems so on point! Prior to this my car colors were White w/Black prime spots: my Wheels beat Heels 1st car (VW bug $400 - road trips = priceless;-), Silver Fox (luxury on a budget;-), Black GTI (THAT was my FLY BETTY & I was all that!!) and NOW Li'l RED - as I'm living out my PASSIONS Wildly (while they state red has highest rate of theft - stick shifts DON'T cuz lazy azz thieves prefer automatics! LOL!)!

thanx Sheletha! i got a li'l carried away in my post. LOL!

I know you ain't quiet. I was just trying to keep from telling all your business.

...and I just said you try to quietly blend in.

LOLOLOL! obviously i can't even "try" to be quiet! LOL! Oh! and your ride says: Rich is Swagg-a-Docious! ;-)

I absolutely do not agree with this post! ...aaargh! I drive a Dodge Caravan...white. In my heart I am driving a mercedes maybach..red! OK a girl can dream damnit!

Jinkees, I just clicked on the the "look here" button, WOW all that from the color of your car! I guess there is some truth. Every car I ever owned was red except this one and a blue wagon I got when children started arriving.

hey y'all...it's a sight to see.

dee can "handle" that mini!!!!

last year i watched her parallel park that itty-bitty car in a space that was less than 8ft and on a new york city street. and that speaks volumes!

Rich Fitzgerald said...

@lovebabz - after hearing your voice last night on CapCity's blog, I would have to agree that I would NEVER have thought you were pushing a Dodge Caravan. You "sound" like a Maybach woman.

Don said...

Wow, thats something because I got the same impression from talking to jewells and seeing her ride that you got.

I've never driven a car with rims on it. Never been the rim type. I have a red '06 Magnum with 30% tint on the front windows. Back and side windows, already factory tinted. It's okay I guess. I want another truck though.

You're right about the no holds barred mentality. IDK, sometimes it gets me in trouble but I always fall back on the "God understands me" line of thought.

That silver 2000 is the business. I think it means that you are professional, and have graduated beyond other things. I had to google the picture. Yeah, thats a serious piece of machinery.

@don - red car = passionate, take charge, baller. As far as your car goes, I'm like you, once I buy it, that's it, I'm done. I have never bought a set of rims, although I have thought about it. Especially when I had my Silverado 2500. I wanted to add that "cool" factor to it, but it was a work truck so there was no need for that.

My car means I was tired of talking about wanting a Mercedes, so I went ahead and bought one. So I guess in a way I have graduated. Graduated from feeling bad about not doing anything for myself. I would always feel bad when it came to buying myself something, always feeling the need to do for the wife and kids. I saw too many dudes who had the best of everything while the wife and kids looked like they belonged to another family. But I was out of balance. I often take myself to task about spending $50 on myself, despite giving my all to take care of my loved ones.

Thanx Lance - i forgot u were watchin';-). Rich, u definitely deserve to be in a lux vehicle. I watched Oprah (much to my chagrin;-) at the laundr-o-mat earlier [now THAT's another post;-)] & they were doing make overs. The line I liked from Make-over Dude: "These women didn't NEED make-overs they DESERVED them." ALL THAT to say: U don't NEED that ride to be Swagga-Docious Rich-Daddy - but U DESERVE it & Mama Rich Deserves to be on the passenger side & arm of a Swagga-Docious MAN! HOLLA!
When MAMA ... AND DADDY Happy - the kids caYn't be nuthin' BUT & tha's a beautiful thang!

I drive a black Ford Explorer XLT. What's your diagnosis, doc?

Rich Fitzgerald said...

@Miz - you in a Mercedes SLK says "I'm tired of playing nice. Don't even come this way if you half stepping."

@the master (de)bater - confident, laid back, brotha who is about his business.

Rich Fitzgerald said...

@Miz -- they gone be scared...unless they are alpha males. Sisters will quietly give the high five, others will be hating "who she think she is" - LOL

MizR, can I ride with you? LOL!

Alright...y'all gonna make a sista run out and buy those two BEEMERS she wants: the money green 5 series with tan leather seats and the red convertible 3 series with tan leather interior for Sundays.

Mantra:
"I know it's a van but its a company car and its free, didja hear me, ITS FREE DAMMIT!"

Mizrepresent said...

Dang Rich, it's like that...well okay...let's roll.

Ced - Baby, what Wifey gonna think, okay i'll roll with both of you...in fact i'll be chauffeur!

CapCity said...

Ced - u know broken down LITERALLY:
black Ford Explorer XLT = Black AMERICAN Man Exploring w/ X-Large thighs! LOL! U knew I couldn't RESIST! tell wifey I ain't mean to tell all HER bidness. LOL!

Miz u know that MINI windshield is the biggest thang on the car! I HAVE sat on the passenger side & it DOES feel like you ARE IN the traffic! LOL!

My next ride - may either move up the BMW line to a 7 series or slide over to the Benz CLK - yea, soon I'll be ready for the luxury - but still need to kick some GAZZ when necessary to roll OUT! ;-)

Interesting post. I drive a candy apple red Ford Mustang. What it says about me? Don't judge a book by its cover and there's more to me than what you think. Most are surprised that I drive it because I'm a quiet person. I sit back and observe more than making a lot of noise, wo when folks realize I drive a fast car, they are like wow...didn't know that about you...and my response is "there's a lot you don't know about me." :)

I drive what ever the company gives me to drive - right now that is a Ford 500 and I hate it. Ugly piece of bull dookey. Our family car is a Metallic Blue H3 Hummer. Diagnosis?

Rich Fitzgerald said...

@shelia g - it's apparent that your car speaks to some of the things you keep "hidden".

@salesdiva - your blue H3 is indicative that you can afford to be where you are in life. Unlike other Hummer drivers, you aren't in it just so you can "floss".

lol Rich. I'll never tell.

Wow. Came over here to check you out and see my name and my ride:-) I love my Acura RDX and she definitely says a lot about me, especially since I keep her clean and her shoes polished. I need to take a pic of her and let the world see my Pearls.

Your CLK is very nice. I totally understand your reason behind getting it. Tired of talking about getting one and went out and got one. That's what it is! We do have to go out there and do stuff for ourselves sometimes.

That car means...that my old car just wasn't working for me anymore and my fiancĂ© said I didn’t have a choice so I bought the first car I could afford with the high bill of a wedding. But I must say that I’m loving the speed and this car will have to settle until he gives me permission to purchase my dream car – Range Rover – or until we move into a downtown loft and I can just walk!
