Having read it over the span of two days, I can tell you, this book came into my life at the right time. I suspect if you follow this series, it will be the same for you.
I would like to hold an online discussion regarding this book, but for that to take place I will need your assistance. I will need you to either check it out from the library or go to your nearest bookstore and purchase a copy. I've heard of this book but haven't read it yet.
I can't make any promises right now but if I do get it and read it this week, I'll definately be back here to discuss it.
OOOH- an online book club? count me in! I have the audiobook (it was free on iTunes) so I can participate.
How long do we have?
I was going to just go over a bit of it next week to give people a chance to get their copy. I'm reading the second pass thru now and I'm finding stuff on nearly ever other page that I could use.
I didn't know you could get it on itunes, I'll have to look into that. I would love to have the audio version.
I love, love, love books and usually try to stay on top of amazing new releases. But I have never heard of this read. It sounds really interesting and I will definitely check it out. Thanks for the suggestion!

In the meantime, he wrote another one I that I really liked: By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept
I read it in Spanish and it was such a beautiful tale.. I highly recommend it.
on the other hand, I also read his: Veronika Decides to Die
and I'm still on the fence about it... too many points of view in that one; left me off-center...
I haven't read this one...but i will indeed put it into rotation.

I have read this book and a number of other books written by Coehlo. I was attracted because when I first started learning Spanish this book was given to me to translate into English to help me learn to read the language. It reminded me of the lyricism of Neruda's poetry and Khalil Gilbran's long prose. The meaning that I got from the text was an unexpected bonus and inspired me to read his other books.
I am definitely striving to reach my personal legend.
I read this book years ago...but I keep it around for the one line words of wisdom. I read the Witch of Portebello by Cohelo...but came no where close to the Alchemist.
oh i read this book for the first time years ago, i think my father turned me on to it. i have since read almost everything he's written, he's amazing...good job for turning folks on to it.
reading is fundamental:-)
