For everyone who has to work today

I wasn't going to post today, but I didn't want to catch any flack from my man C-Mac, who I actually lured into this whole blogging arena with my passion for it. So for all of you who are like my man "C", this ones for you.
I stumbled up on these guys this morning. They are known as
"Dem Unknown Warriorz"
They are a Christian Rap group out of Atlanta who are putting the crunk (music with bass and synthesized brass) in Gospel Music to draw the youth who are overcome with the hip hop music and culture.
I can really appreciate what they are doing because I'm a big music fan and some Christian music (rap and gospel) is just lacking in appeal, I don't care how saved you are. I grew up on R&B and all the Hip Hop pioneers, so I'm not so easily moved to enjoy the music just because it speaks to my faith. I haven't heard these guys yet, but I'm going to be looking out for them. Until then, check out Canton Jones who actually has a really good album. In fact he has a couple albums, but this song that I'm going to feature should be close to what "Dem Unknown Warriorz" are attempting to do.

Just for kicks, here's another cut off Canton Jones current album

You Tube won't allow me to embed it, so here's the link: Stay Saved

crunk gospel,

my reaction is mixed...

a) you attract people with your message with what they understand and appreciate

b) if all you are doing is jumpin and shouting (like the old folks do to their holy ghost jams - you know what i'm talkin about) and all they got was a good feeling, then we are substituting 6 on one hand for half a dozen in the other. It may just be Lil John with a cross.

Interesting outlook C-Mac. Not sure if I feel totally the same. I know it's been a minute since we did the Youth Leader stint at ALF, but you know how it is, the kids are drawn by the music. It gets their attention long enough to get the real message to them. Little John ain't going to do that.

I look at it like the word says in the book of Mark 9:40 - For he who is not against us is on our side.

I'd much rather see the brothers promoting the Gospel this way than putting out more booty and bling music.

I'm not a fan of gospel rap. However, I can appreciate trying to draw the youth to the church. Maybe once they are there, they will find the word.
