Satirically Speaking

While watching episodes of The Boondocks (thanks to Sheletha) I was inspired to do a search on Mos Def after his remarkably believable performance as Gangstalicious (Gay Hip Hop Artist) and I ran across this entertaining interview featuring Cornel West, Mos Def and Bill Maher. The clip is strewn together and during the course of the show Mos Def was hilariously dropping knowledge. He was in left field a couple times, but he was mainly on point and Cornel West was his normal genius self. The show aired some time ago, but many of the points are valid even today.

This is a GREAT clip!

I'm a big Mos Def fan. Whenever I've seen him in some kind of dialogue he is always on point. He may not know how to handle his child support payments, but I bet he could make the reasoning sound right, lol.

I wonder what would happen if Cornel West cut his hair. Ya' think it's a Sampson type thing?

@ shelia: "ya' think it's a sampson type thing?"...hahaha, that's cute, but you're probably right!

@ mega rich: nice clip and informative. it's funny to see maher try to interject, something, only to get shot down in flames....lol

see - this is when i wish i actually had cable/watched tv = i wanna see this entirely! cool clip - LOL@ "passing the presidency like a party" AND we should be able to vote where ever we play the numbers!!!! As my gramma always said: Many a true word said in a joke!

Loved it!!

@Shelia: "he may not be able to handle child support.." LOL! U know what often crax me UP AND saddens me at the same time about some Brothers? They can talk some DEEP SHIT all day LONGGG - but when it comes to the basics of taking care of home...just keep 'em in prayer...

I hadn't seen this surprisingly as I watch Maher's show regularly. The imagery of the "party joint presidency" made my day! Mos Def is a force, but the huge swings from "I don't believe we put a man on the moon" to "I do believe in Big Foot though" crack me up and make it clear that with all his fallacies, this bruh is a force of nature.

Hey CapCity, do NOT get me started, don't get me started, DON'T GET ME STARTED!!! LOL! Mouth all mighty, tongue everlasting, none home taking care of fools!! Phew!

DISCLAIMER: This rant of course has nothing to do with you men who walk the talk.

Mos Def was most definitely standing in left field somewhere...he made some valid points, but stained those points by turning around and giving the impression that he was drunk or something. I like the way Cornel West went back and attempted to clean up those words by trying to stick to the topic @ hand.

Props to Bill Maher for giving them a stage.

Hey dude...I can't check out the clip right now, but I WILL...because I LOVE alllll those mentioned. I'm so mad that I've yet to see the new episodes of boondocks...I've got to get it together

yeah, don...mos had maher against the ropes for a minute, but then tried to make it comedic...maybe his mind was searching for something to back himself up.

it was nice that "the good doctor", dr. west was there to rectify mos' message but also to show solidarity.

OH MAN! This is one of the few episodes of Bill Maher's show that I loved. Maher's writing staff is SERIOUS--even when he has little to no clues about subject matter, the scripts he uses in note form make him look like THE brain--and he needed them for this episode! I just wish Mos had held it together long enough to catch the slip-ups in Islamic history that Maher made while he tried to talk the "Muslims love war" garbage. Still, the brothers made me so proud that I recorded this episode twice to make sure it was nice!
